The first step to starting a blog is deciding which hosting company you will go with. I looked between several and when I finally decided to choose Bluehost to start a website, I was pretty confident it was the best choice for my blog.

When I started my first blog, Courage. Hope. Love., I was brand new to the online blogging/website world.

It can be a little bit intimidating (or A LOT) to start a blog from scratch. Not only is writing and putting your writing out there scary, but there is an entire technical side of creating a blog and website that you’re up against.

I want to start by easing your mind just a little bit. Starting a blog is NOT that hard. There are some great step-by-step tutorials that you can follow (click here for my start a blog email series) that will get you up and running quickly.

Should You Choose Bluehost to Start a Website

Don’t rush the process of starting your website, because you want to do it right. It’s not going to happen overnight and that’s okay! But don’t worry, it's not as scary as it may seem.

So side-note over, choosing your hosting company is a big part of starting a website. You have several to choose from and I’m sure you’ve heard of many of them.

Some of the big hosting companies include: Bluehost, Hostgator, GoDaddy and so many more.

I’ve personally worked with both Bluehost and Hostgator and I’m about to tell you all about why I love Bluehost and think you should start your website with Bluehost.

If you’re ready to click over and give Bluehost a look, here’s the link.

Let’s dive into some of the biggest reasons I chose (and would continue to choose) Bluehost to start my website.

You Can Get Started in Under 10 Minutes

Bluehost is so easy to get started with. In fact, if you clicked over right now, you could buy your domain and set up your site on WordPress in under ten minutes!

It's fast, it's easy and super exciting because once I decided to start my website, I wanted to get it up and running immediately.

If you're ready to get started, scroll down to the next section for step-by-step instructions!

Prices are Great

Let’s chat pricing. Because pricing is a huge part of getting your website started. You don’t want to have to spend an arm and a leg to run your blog or online business. Bluehost is great and they offer some awesome deals.

Right now you can get started with your website for only $2.95 per month.

That’s only $35.40 for an entire year!

I eventually upgraded to the next plan tier and even that isn’t too expensive. I spend a lot more money on my email marketing and Pinterest scheduler than what it takes to keep my website up and running with Bluehost! (Thank you Bluehost for that).

We all spend money on things we wish we could find cheaper or return, but I’m extremely happy with the amount that I’ve paid for hosting through Bluehost.

Well Known and Reliable

When you choose Bluehost for your website hosting, you aren’t risking it with some small and unreliable company.

Bluehost is one of the top hosting companies and is well built for a variety of website owners. I host several websites through Bluehost and I’ve never had any problems!

Support is Top Notch

Bluehost’s support is really helpful in any and every area. I’ve had so many questions that I’ve brought to them and they’ve been answered right away.

Sometimes, I worried my questions had nothing to do with the hosting, but even then, they would jump right in and help me.

They have a great Chat feature that will immediately connect you to a support representative. This person can help you with practically any question regarding your website.

I have used this feature more times than I can count and I am so glad for it. I’ve never had to go more than a few minutes stressing about something I didn’t know how to do.

And if your help representative isn’t helpful -  you can rate them as soon as you leave!

I’ve always given mine high ratings because they’ve always been able to help me with my problems.

The one downside is that sometimes there seems to be a slight language barrier and this can complicate things just a bit, but even then, they were able to help me and get my problem solved.

Easy to Use and Navigate (Even for Newbies)

If you’re starting a website, chances are, you’re new to building a website or blog. I know I was. And because of this, there is a huge amount of learning that needs to be done.

So if at all possible, you’re going to want to cut back on the complicated systems and software so that you can focus on what’s important - your blog or business, right?

Well, not only are there tons of tutorials walking you through each step of setting up your Bluehost account (keep scrolling for a tutorial on getting set up with Bluehost), but the actual Bluehost interface is well organized, clean and easy to use.

I’ve used Hostgator in the past, and although I have no complaints about their physical hosting, their interface is so cluttered that I can never find my way around.

Bluehost is easy to navigate and I needed this when I was starting out.

Overall, I have loved my experience with Bluehost.

I’m not saying they are the best company out there, but I am saying that I would choose them and I would recommend them, especially for any new website owner or blog owner.

Step-by-Step Bluehost Tutorial

Step 1: Choose Your Plan

Click here to go to the Bluehost website.

Click “Get Started Now”

I recommend starting with the “basic” plan.

Step 2: Choose Your Domain

Enter your domain & select “Next”

Step 3: Create Your Account

Enter your account information. I recommend only leaving the “Domain Privacy Protection” selected. You can look into the other options, but they aren’t necessary.

Here you will also choose how many months you want the plan. Consider what you are willing to commit to, but this is the only time you will be guaranteed the lower per month pricing!

Step 4: Enter Payment Info & Submit

Step 5: Create Your Password

Step 6: Choose a Tentative Theme (This can be changed as soon as you login)

Your theme is going to dictate the “look” of your website. Choose which one looks good for now. You can explore more free themes in depth once you get into WordPress.

Step 7: Click “Start Building with WordPress”

At this point, you’ve installed WordPress on your domain. WordPress is the most common website content management system and is awesome. It makes it easy to navigate, update and edit your site regularly without any coding knowledge! At this point, you can go through the prompts. Start by choosing business or personal. We will get into more details in tomorrow’s lesson.

Step 8: Launch! (If you’re ready)

From here you can launch your site and build as you go, or you can wait until it’s ready to hit launch! This is really personal preference. If you’ve already put your link out there, I recommend waiting until it is presentable. If no one has your link, I sometimes enjoy being able to look at it from different screens without logging in.

Whenever you're ready to make it live, click Launch! (under the Bluehost tab)

There you have it! Your website should be up and running.
